Rich Burland

Coach

Rich Burland brings more than 20 years of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for developing young athletes to Sluggers Academy. A former standout shortstop at East Valley High School in Spokane, Washington, Rich earned All-Conference honors and was selected to the Eastern Washington All-State Team before continuing his playing career at Columbia Basin College in Paso.

Throughout his coaching career, Rich has worked with athletes from 9U through 18U at every level of the game. His experience includes coaching travel softball, several highly competitive travel baseball organizations in Washington, and multiple successful programs in the Flathead Valley, including the Kalispell Lakers, Jr. Lakers, and Kalispell Sluggers.

In recognition of his leadership, player development expertise, and commitment to growing the game, Rich was selected as the first Head Baseball Coach in Flathead High School history, entrusted with launching the school's inaugural varsity baseball program. His appointment reflects the respect he has earned throughout the Montana baseball community and his proven ability to build competitive programs while developing young men of character.



Known for his ability to connect with players and maximize their potential, Rich is committed to teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. His player-first approach emphasizes character, accountability, and a love for the game, making him an invaluable member of the Sluggers Academy coaching staff.
